Why Can't I Just Finish the Thing?

Feel like you have too many brain tabs open at once? Does it feel like procrastination is a part of everyday life? Some days it feels like you're drowning and just can't keep up, no matter how hard you try.

If any of that sounds familiar, you might be wondering: do I have ADHD?

We understand — and you're not alone. It might surprise you to know that a lot of professional organizers have ADHD themselves or a family member does. Many of us started this work because traditional organizing methods never quite worked for us, so we went on a journey to figure out what does work — and along the way, discovered we wanted to help other like-minded people do the same.

Even if you're reading this and don't have ADHD, chances are high that you know someone who does. According to the CDC, about 1 in 9 children (11.4%) and 1 in 17 adults (roughly 6%) in the United States have been diagnosed with ADHD, and approximately 44% of adults diagnosed are women.

Here's something else worth knowing: if you're a woman who has lived most of your life without feeling like you had ADHD, but you're now hitting perimenopause, the symptoms can look very similar. Poor focus, memory lapses, disorganization, feeling easily overwhelmed — perimenopause can make you feel like you have ADHD even if you don't.

Whichever it is for you — temporary (perimenopause) or longer-term (ADHD) — know that we're here to help you navigate it. We'll help you stay on task and discover the organizing systems that work for you, not against you. Because pretty bins might work for some people, but that doesn't mean they'll work for you.

Speaking of bins — have you bought another container or tote lately, hoping it would finally get you organized? Sadly, it probably won't. Sure, it'll store your stuff, but will you actually remember what's inside it, and be able to find it when you need it? Often, the real fix isn't more storage — it's rethinking how much you have and how your brain can easily maintain it.

Are you now thinking about “how am I going to maintain it”? That’s when decision fatigue and overwhelm hits. Organizing takes a lot of mental energy and a lot of decision-making, and we get it — that's exhausting! It's also exactly where we come in. We'll help you tackle the areas that matter most to you, and use that early momentum to keep moving forward. Don’t worry about how long it takes. We know about your time blindness and are there to be your clock. Our experience helps us recognize when our clients are ready for a break and you deserve it for all your efforts. Are you worried we'll get you set up and you won't be able to maintain it? We aren't going anywhere. We will come back and refresh/reset your space regularly so we can help you stay on track. Your home is yours and needs to work for you because you’re the one that lives there. You don't have to solve your organizing situation alone. Let's build a system together that actually works for your brain.
